Helmut Hack in the magazine Fidelity № 41 | 01/2019:
“At the beginning of the hearing test, the first thing that convinces is the quality of workmanship…
…then Aretha Franklin’s “Chain of Fools” sounded so free and expansive, so little dull and cloudy, that I was able to experience deep inner satisfaction in two ways at once.
With the Ametrin-1, Holger Stein has achieved a great success that goes far beyond the usual requirements for stability and geometry.
It offers the cartridge a base that simultaneously hugs, supports and stimulates”.

Wojciech Pacula – High Fidelity

In short – this cart offered a very rich, highly enjoyable performance.

Robert H. Levi – Positive Feedback

“I have owned many, many cartridges, and have enjoyed LPs for over 50 years. The Aventurin 6 is the best MC yet in every parameter that my ears know. This is saying something, since I have never owned a more sophisticated reference system, from magnetic turntable to diamond tweeters. Hell, my interconnects retail for over $70,000! And yet, I listen to the Aventurin 6 and imagine a half-track tape deck playing the master tape at 15-ips. I hear clear solid images with zero etch, just like being there.”

Wayne Donnelly – Enjoy the Music

“I have not heard anywhere near every great phono cartridge, but I have heard several that are even more expensive than the Stein Music Aventurin 6. I have never heard a cartridge I would prefer to it. Highest possible recommendation!”

The Basic Idea behind the Aventurin 6 Cartridge

The SteinMusic Aventurin 6 low output MC cartridge is a unique overall concept creating a detailed and natural sound with great finesse and overall coherency.

On a sensible device like a cartridge, this may only happen if great care is taken into every detail.

For the stylus we have chosen a diamond with Micro Ridge cut.

This has excellent scanning characteristics, while at the same time being extremely gentle on the record grooves.
In addition, the Micro Ridge cut has the advantage of even wear over the long term, while maintaining the optimal scanning profile of the needle. For the needle carrier our choice became a solid boron rod. This combines the aspects of torsional stiffness and lightness in an ideal way.
A very light non-magnetic special ceramic was used as the coil body for the exactly symmetrically wound crossed coil.

The coils themselves are wound from high-purity 6N copper, which has been further treated with a special technology developed in-house.

We have paid great attention to the damping rubber, which is largely overlooked but has a significant influence on the final overall result. The basis of the SteinMusic Aventurin pickup system is the harmonic construction of a cast bronze structure as the base in combination with a carbon/mahogany body.
Here too, we have optimized every detail to achieve an overall result at the highest level.

The base is made of a special bronze alloy, which has been optimized for its acoustic properties.
It is not machined, but cast in order to obtain a stress-free structure.
The mass distribution and geometry of this base is optimized to give the generator a stable working base and to effectively dissipate resonances.

After a long series of tests with different materials, we decided to use a composite of mahogany and carbon for the cabinet, in order to achieve the best tonal results in combination with the bronze base.
A final treatment with SteinMusic Maestro lacquer makes the overall result perfect.

All these details of the Aventurin 6 cartridge have been optimized in long listening tests, so that the result perfectly meets our expectations of a natural sounding cartridge.

Stateline Phono 2

Stateline Phono 2

StateLine Phono 2

The Stateline Phono 2 Pre-amplifier has the following features:
Discrete matched FET Input stage. Discrete single ended Mos-FET output stage. All is fully working in Class A.

RIAA equalization is done passively for high frequencies and actively for low frequencies. Both RIAA networks are completely separated from each other. External raw power supply, so that no transformers which might create the smallest hum are located in the main housing. Internally, a special discretely-built ultra low noise voltage regulator with LEDs does an excellent job.

The signal path is extremely short due to the use of a double sided PCB with SMD parts on one side and through-hole devices on the other.

No use of any ceramic capacitors in the whole circuit. The complete board including all components is lacquered with SteinMusic Maestro lacquer to optimize mechanical resonances.

MM: Input capacity switchable 0pF, 82pF, 150pF or 232 pF
MC: Input impedance switchable between 25R and 47K in 50 steps
Amplification 60dB MC, 40dB MM

Will work fine with Aventurin 6, however it suits well with every other cartridge as it is very easily universally adjustable.

The Stateline Phono 2 Signature

The Stateline Phono 2 Signature version is additionally equipped with a special power supply upgrade board. This board only carries the best foil capacitors, vacuum capacitors and numerous oscon capacitors in a very balanced configuration which perfectly suits the Stateline Phono 2 amplifier.

Just as the main circuit board of the Stateline Phono 2 amplifier, the complete Signature board including all components is lacquered with SteinMusic Maestro lacquer to optimize mechanical resonances.

Some SteinMusic InLine Silver is implemented into the power supply, which significantly reduces magnetic distortions.

Finally we are working with technology used in our E-Pads to get closer to perfection with the overall results.
All these features bring the potential of the Stateline Phono 2 onto a much higher level of quality.

The Stateline Phono 2 Signature Supply

The non-compromising construction of this preamp immensely profits from the Stateline Phono 2 Signature Power supply.

Dealing with extremely small audio signals generated by the cartridge, low noise is essential for rediscovering every fine detail of the record. We took extremely great care to get away from mains noise and distortions by using three transformers.

Two of them are working as isolation transformers which effectively filter noise starting at 120Hz.

The combination of the Stateline Phono 2 Signature and the Stateline Phono 2 Signature Power supply provides u with a musical experience that is state of the art for a relatively small investment.

How to use The Stateline Phono 2

If using an MC cartridge, set it to MC which is the ON position.
Then with Switch 1 – Switch 7 you may choose the impedance that fits for your cartridge.
Capacity switches should be both off for MC operation, as MC cartridges normally do not
need any capacitive loading.

If using an MM cartridge, set the middle of the block of three switches to MM, which is the off position. Then set all impedance switches to off, which results in an impedance of 47K which is perfect for MM cartridges.

MM cartridges sometimes like to be loaded with some more than the cable capacity of the turntable interconnect, so we have added two switches:
S 8 and the upper one of the block of three switches.
S8 in the “off” position and the upper one of the block of three switches in the “off” position No additional capacity loading
S8 in the “on” position and the upper one of the block of three switches in the “off” position 82pF loading
S8 in the “off” position and the upper one of the block of three switches in the “on” position 150pF loading
S8 in the “on” position and the upper one of the block of three switches in the “on” position 232pf loading depending on the way the Earth from the grid is terminated on the other components of the audio system, it may be useful to connect the GND connector to Earth for most quiet operation.

 the Perfect Interface π [piː]

Resonance control between a vinyl disk and the platter is something essential. With it you will be able to achieve the quality of audio you ever dreamt of from your turntable. The base of the Perfect Interface is a very special paper from the tapa cloth tree. This paper is traditionally handmade in Japan, and dried on wood. We further process it at our factory in Mülheim, Germany bringing it to the right shape and properties to be the ultimate interface. One of the essential techniques here is to impregnate it with SteinMusic Maestro Lacquer. SteinMusic Maestro Lacquer is a varnish made out of the most precious natural resins in a unique composition, optimized for perfect resonance control. The idea here is not dampening, but creating an open and organic sound with accurate timing and finesse. The Perfect Interface π [piː] works perfectly with platters made out of metal, acrylic, wood, or any other material. This also includes platters made out of a combination of different materials. The Perfect Interface π [piː] is made with only one intention: To let you enjoy the music in all its beauty.

FAQ

How can I visually distinguish the different versions of the Perfect Interface?
  1. The normal one does not have the “Signature” hologram.
  2. The Signature does have the “Signature” hologram.
  3. The Carbon Signature has an additional carbon coating on the back. As carbon is, this is black, not shiny but matt. You will recognize it when you have a look on the top side and compare it with the back side.
Why do you have three different versions of the Perfect Interface?

The Perfect Interface Carbon Signature sets clear standards for what you may achieve with a turntable mat. As the process of making is extremely complex handwork, it cannot be cheap.

At the Perfect Interface Signature we leave out one process which is only possible to do by real handwork, and very difficult to do right.
Its sound is not as detailed as the sound of the Carbon version, however it is also very realistic and natural with a lot of musical expression.

Even in good, but cheaper audio systems with non-expensive turntables around USD 1000 and below, the Perfect Interface Carbon Signature may improve the sound in amount more than worth its cost.

However, if someone did not yet experience it, how shall we communicate this?
So, we decided to cut some corners, but still maintain the general characteristics. As an entry for those who just started to enjoy the beauty of music.

” I stood there thinking, “Huh! Really?” I had been expecting an effect that was quite subtle; instead, a certain openness and rich organic sound caught my ear. LP after LP, I was quietly pleased at the result. It didn’t seem to matter what genre of music; the Perfect Interface wrought a real step forward.”

Michael Fremer about the Perfect Interface

Don’t bother with that. “The Perfect Interface” produced an increased transparency, blacker backgrounds but especially transient precision that was easy to hear don’t ask me why that should be but it was easily audible.”

Jonathan Valin about the Perfect Interface

How a piece of varnished Japanese paper can consistently improve the sound of a vinyl record riding atop it is beyond me. All I can tell you is that it does—that the very thing that makes many LPs sound like LPs, like mosaics made of individually recorded bits and pieces, is replaced by something that makes those bits and pieces seem more like interrelated parts of a sonic whole.

The Perfect Interface π [piː] CD

Although only digital information are read from a CD, resonance control in this domain is essential for the finesse and naturalness available in the musical information. The Perfect Interface π [piː] CD is based on the same principles as the Perfect Interface platter mat, as it turned out that when used in the digital domain exactly the same qualities became present like in the analog domain. The Perfect Interface CD is available as the Perfect Interface CD Signature and as the Perfect Interface CD Carbon Signature.
